Specialised outsource software developer, UCS Software Manufacturing (UCSSM), has secured a R40m deal - spread over two years - to provide ongoing development services for retail-based software for newly-created software distribution company, Argility.
Argility was recently unbundled from UCSSM’s JSE Securities Exchange-listed parent company, UCS Group. Launched officially last year, Argility is to distribute SA-developed software products, including the ActiveRetail and DolFin software product suites.
Argility was set up to focus on creating a dealer channel focused on winning local and international sales for the retail software originally developed by the group’s software factory, UCSSM.
Argility was spun off as a separate entity by UCS Group, with none of its shares being held by UCS. This gives it the independence to sell the group’s products and develop its own chain of dealers.
